Keeping Your Pet Cool in the Summer

The warm weather is lovely for us humans, but it can play havoc with your pets.  Animals can easily suffer from heat stroke when the weather warms up, leaving them in danger of serious illness or even death. Here are some tips to help you to keep your pets cool when the summer heat hits.

Firstly, do not walk your dogs out in the heat. If the air temperature seems hot, the ground will certainly feel even hotter! The hot ground can hurt your dog’s feet by burning it’s pads. If in doubt, do not walk them.

Cooling down at home with a paddling pool with cool water in is a good way to keep your pets cooler.  Don’t use icy cold water, as this can be too much of a shock, but cool water is a great way to reduce the body temperature.
